Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The page loads its code once, then reads and processes your files inside the browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server; you can confirm it in your browser's network panel while a file converts.
Should I convert every JPG on my site to WebP?
For photos, usually yes: WebP is smaller and every current browser supports it. Keep the original JPGs as masters, since converting lossy to lossy loses a little each time.
Is the EXIF data kept?
No. The WebP is encoded from pixels, so camera data and GPS location are removed, and the orientation is applied to the pixels.
