Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The page loads its code once, then reads and processes your files inside the browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server; you can confirm it in your browser's network panel while a file converts.
Why does the image get smaller in pixels sometimes?
Quality alone can only shrink a file so far before it looks blocky. Below quality 0.4 the tool scales the image down instead, because a smaller sharp image looks better than a large blurry one. The new dimensions are shown with each result.
Can I compress a PNG and keep it a PNG?
Not with a size target. PNG is lossless, so the only lever is fewer pixels or colors. The tool outputs JPG or WebP, which reach small sizes with far better quality.
How is this different from TinyPNG or Squoosh?
TinyPNG uploads your files to its servers. Squoosh is local too but handles one image at a time. This tool targets an exact size limit and handles batches, which is what form uploads usually need.
