Drop PNGs here to get WebP files that are usually a fraction of the size, with transparency kept. Use it for images on websites and in apps.

## How to use it

1. Drop .png files or paste a screenshot.
2. Set the quality; 80–90 is a good range for the web.
3. Download the WebP files or a zip.

## Details

- **Input:** PNG (with or without alpha)
- **Output:** Lossy WebP with alpha, quality 85 by default
- **Browser support for WebP:** All current browsers
- **Limits:** No file count limit. Very large images (above ~16,000 px on a side, or ~250 megapixels on phones) can exceed the browser's canvas limit.

## Questions

### Are my files uploaded?

No. The page loads its code once, then reads and processes your files inside the browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server; you can confirm it in your browser's network panel while a file converts.

### How much smaller will the WebP be?

It depends on the image. Photos and gradients often shrink by 70–90%. Flat graphics and screenshots shrink less, and a very small PNG icon can occasionally get larger; the result shows the size of each file so you can compare.

### Can it make lossless WebP?

Not yet. Browsers expose lossy WebP encoding only. At quality 100 the output is close to lossless but not bit-exact.
