Drop AVIF files here to get JPGs that open everywhere. Your browser decodes the AVIF itself, so nothing is uploaded.

## How to use it

1. Drop .avif files or choose them.
2. Set the JPG quality.
3. Download the JPGs or a zip.

## Details

- **Input:** AVIF (still images)
- **Output:** JPG, transparency filled with white
- **Needs:** Chrome/Edge 85+, Firefox 93+ or Safari 16.4+ to decode AVIF
- **Limits:** No file count limit. Very large images (above ~16,000 px on a side, or ~250 megapixels on phones) can exceed the browser's canvas limit.

## Questions

### Are my files uploaded?

No. The page loads its code once, then reads and processes your files inside the browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server; you can confirm it in your browser's network panel while a file converts.

### Where do AVIF files come from?

Websites serve AVIF because it is smaller than WebP and JPG, so images saved from a browser are often AVIF. Some Android phones and cameras can also shoot it. Many desktop apps still cannot open it.

### Can I convert JPG to AVIF here?

Not yet. Browsers can decode AVIF but most cannot encode it from a canvas, so AVIF output needs a bundled encoder. Convert to WebP for a small, widely supported file instead.
